Point, Shoot, Save – Socially conscious Photographers

Grand Rapids, MI: LinAe Nichols and Tammy Cole were inspired by the striking fact that 1 in 8 people globally lack access to clean water. They decided to do something about it by raising funds through their photography business.

Sunshine & Daisies Photography takes pride in creatively capturing your life’s most important moments. They produce custom designed albums, and enjoy doing it in a colorful, nontraditional way. Now they’re developing more than just great photography, they’re giving to charity. With every Portrait Package purchase, a Bio-sand Water Filter is donated to a thirsty family in Masaka, Rwanda through 20liters.org. With every Wedding Package purchase, $500 is donated to Living Water International.

The cool part about cause-based business – clients take notice. After receiving a quote, Jenny DeKoster writes back,  ”looking around at various photographers, we decided to go with you guys because not only did we like your photography, but we felt like we were making a difference as well. We were getting great photos, and an opportunity to help those in need at the same time.”

Tammy and LinAe are also organizing other photographers and business owners to follow suit in giving. They started The Give H2O Project in hopes of bringing like-minded people together to help those in need. As stated on the Give H2O website they’re looking for, “both businesses and clients — who share a passion for philanthropy.” It’s exciting to see young professionals do what they love, and help others in the process.
